The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify the deposit by the Government of New Zealand, on September 10, 2012, of its instrument of ratification of the Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks, adopted at Singapore on March 27, 2006. The said instrument contained the following declaration:
- consistent with the constitutional status of Tokelau and taking into account the commitment of the Government of New Zealand to the development of self-government for Tokelau through an act of self-determination under the Charter of the United Nations, this ratification shall not extend to Tokelau unless and until a Declaration to this effect is lodged by the Government of New Zealand with the Depositary on the basis of appropriate consultation with that territory.
In conformity with Article 28(3), the said Treaty will enter into force, with respect to New Zealand, on December 10, 2012.
