The Act is applicable as of the accession of the country to independence: October 10, 1970.

Stockholm Act (1967): The instrument of accession contained a declaration provided for in Article 28(1)(b)(i) of the said Act to the effect that the accession does not apply to Articles 1 to 21 and to the Protocol Regarding Developing Countries. (see Berne Notification No. 33)
Stockholm Act (1967): By letter dated December 1, 1971, the Government of Fiji deposited a declaration of continued application of the Brussels Act of the Berne Convention. Consequently, Fiji remains bound by Articles 1 to 20 of the Brussels Act. (see Berne Notification No. 33)
