The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the receipt, on December 15, 1995, of the communication of the French Republic, dated December 7, 1995, stating an extension of the list of kinds of microorganisms accepted, for deposit, by the Collection nationale de cultures de micro-organismes (C.N.C.M.), an international depositary authority under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, done at Budapest on April 28, 1977, as amended on September 26, 1980 (see Budapest Notification No. 39 of June 29, 1984). The text of that communication is attached.
The list so extended of the kinds of microorganisms accepted, for deposit, by the Collection nationale de cultures de micro-organismes (C.N.C.M.), will be published in the January 1996 issue of Industrial Property and Copyright/La Propriété industrielle et le Droit d'auteur. The extended list will take effect as from the date (January 31, 1996) of that publication.

Text of the Communication of the French Republic of December 7, 1995, Relating to an Extension of the List of Kinds of Microorganisms Accepted, for Deposit, by the Collection nationale de cultures de micro-organismes (C.N.C.M.)

COMMUNICATION
The Permanent Mission of France presents its compliments to the World Intellectual Property Organization and has the honor to inform it that, pursuant to Rule 3.3 of the Regulations under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, the assurances of the Collection nationale de cultures de micro-organismes (C.N.C.M.), set out in item 7 of Budapest Notification No. 39, are extended to animal cell cultures, including human cell lines, genetically modified cell lines and hybridomes.
The C.N.C.M. reserves its right to refuse acceptance for deposit of any cell culture which, according to the curator, involves an unacceptable risk or is not suitable, for technical reasons, for handling.
Pursuant to Article 7(2)(b) of the Budapest Treaty, the extension of the list of kinds of microorganisms accepted for deposit by the C.N.C.M. will apply as from the date of publication of this communication.
