The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify the receipt, on July 16, 2019, of a communication dated July 11, 2019, from the Government of Japan regarding changes in the schedule of fees charged by the International Patent Organism Depositary (IPOD), National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE), and by the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation, Patent Microorganisms Depositary (NPMD), international depositary authorities under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure (Budapest Treaty), done at Budapest on April 28, 1977, and amended on September 26, 1980 (see Budapest Notification No. 15 of March 31, 1981 and Budapest Notification No. 215 of April 1, 2004, respectively).
According to Rule 12.2(c) of the Regulations under the Budapest Treaty, the fees set forth in the said communication for storage, the issuance of an attestation under Rule 8.2 of the Regulations under the Budapest Treaty, the issuance of a viability statement, furnishing of a sample and issuance of a communication under Rule 7.6 of the Regulations under the Budapest Treaty shall take effect on October 1, 2019, that is, on the thirtieth day following the publication of the changes by the International Bureau.
The new fee schedule of the International Patent Organism Depositary (IPOD), National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE), and of the National Institute of Technology and Evaluation, Patent Microorganisms Depositary (NPMD), is as follows:

Fees do not include tax.
For each of the above items, a transaction fee of 2,500 JPY will be applied to all orders placed outside Japan.
In case more than two invoices should be issued in a single case, a handling fee of 2,600 JPY will be charged per each additional invoice.
