The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to refer to the deposit by the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, on March 18, 1997, of a declaration relating to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of September 9, 1886, as revised at Paris on July 24, 1971 ("Paris Act (1971)"), a declaration according to which the Republic of the Philippines extended the effects of its accession to the Berne Convention to Articles 1 to 21 and the Appendix of the Paris Act of the said Convention (see Berne Notification No. 179, of March 18, 1997).
The Director General of WIPO has the honor to notify that the Government of the Republic of the Philippines deposited, on June 16, 2004, a declaration according to which the Republic of the Philippines avails itself of the faculties provided for in Articles II and III of the Appendix to the said Convention. The said declaration shall take effect, with respect to the Republic of the Philippines, from October 10, 2004.
