Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure

Communication of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Relating to the Change of Name and New Schedule of Fees of the International Mycological Institute (IMI) to CABI Bioscience, UK Centre (IMI)

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the receipt, on July 11, 2001, of a written communication, dated July 5, 2001, from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland informing him of the change of name and new schedule of fees of the International Mycological Institute (IMI), an international depositary authority under the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, done at Budapest on April 28, 1977, and amended on September 26, 1980.

The new name of the said international depositary authority is "CABI BIOSCIENCE, UK Centre (IMI)."

The fees set forth in the said communication became applicable on April 1, 2001, and replace the fees published in the May 1989 issue of the WIPO periodical Industrial Property and Copyright (see Budapest Notification No. 78 of April 17, 1989).

In its communication, the said Government also notifies an extension of the list of kinds of microorganisms accepted for deposit by the CABI Bioscience, UK Centre (IMI). The text of the communication is attached.

The notifications and information relating to the international depositary authorities under the Budapest Treaty and its Regulations will, as from the June/July issue, no longer be published in our periodical Intellectual Property Laws and Treaties, but will be published on WIPO's website.

Text of the Communication of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, dated July 5, 2001, Relating to the Change of Name and Fees of the International Mycological Institute (IMI) under the Budapest Treaty

COMMUNICATION

I have the honour to refer to the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure, opened for signature at Budapest from 28 April to 31 December 1977 and to the previous communication from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland concerning the change of name and fees of the International Mycological Institute (IMI).

In accordance with Rule 3.1(b) of the Regulations under the Treaty, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland hereby notify you that the International Mycological Institute (IMI) has changed its name to CABI BIOSCIENCE, UK Centre, with the address as before. Personnel and facilities within the Genetic Resource Collection remain the same, as does the culture collection acronym (IMI).

In accordance with Rule 3.3 of the Regulations under the Treaty, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland hereby notify you also that they wish to extend coverage of the organisms which can be maintained for patent purposes to include nematodes. They now have taxonomic support for these organisms due to their merger with a sister institute, the International Institute for Parasitology.

And in accordance with Rule 12.2 of the Regulations under the Treaty, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland hereby notify you that the prices for services have been increased from 1^st April 2001, as follows:
