Proposed Corrections of the Original of the Geneva Act (English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish and Russian Versions) and of the Certified True Copies

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents his compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has the honor to notify him of the proposal to correct some errors in the original texts in the English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish languages of the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs, adopted at Geneva on July 2, 1999 (the "Geneva Act"), as well as in the certified true copies thereof.

English text:

- the reference in Article 27(3)(e) to paragraph (d) should be to subparagraph (d).

Arabic text:

- in Article 26(3)(a) the words "... من جميع الأطراف المتعاقدة ..." should be replaced by "... من ثلاثة أرباع الأطراف المتعاقدة ..."

- the reference in Article 27(3)(e) to "الفقرة (د)" should be to "الفقرة الفرعية (د)"

Chinese text:

- in Article 25(2), the words "第21条、" should be added before "第22条"; and

- in Article 26(3)(a), the words "…所有缔约方" should be replaced by "…四分之三缔约方".

French text:

- the reference in Article 14(2)(a) to "l'article 11" should be to "l'article 12"; and

- the reference in Article 27(1) to "l'article 8" should be to "l'article 28".

Russian text:

- the reference in Article 26(3)(a) to "… пункт (2) …" should be to "… подпункт (b) …"; and

- the reference in Article 27(3)(e) to "… пункт (d)…" should be to "… подпункт (d) …".

Spanish text:

- the reference in Article 27(3)(e) to "párrafo" d) should be to "apartado" d).

In accordance with the established practice, and unless there is an objection from the interested parties, the Director General proposes to reflect in the English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish texts of the original of the Geneva Act the required corrections, which would also apply to the certified true copies.

Under the said practice, objections should be communicated to the Director General within 60 days from the date of the present communication, i.e. not later than January 9, 2009.
